Reinventing Rock

This design marries old and new, embracing the ruin-like qualities of Rock Hall through the principles of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold. The project consists of three spaces—Bridge, Hall, and Servant Spaces—continuing the proposed architectural language through a courtyard. Like kintsugi, the intervention highlights the “rough edges” of the hall, binding new and existing walls in a way that honours the original structure without overshadowing it.
